Cave Location

The cave is about two miles from the village of Ingleton in North Yorkshire. The cave car park and entrance are beside the B6255 road which runs from Ingleton to Hawes. Walking to the cave along the B6255 from Ingleton takes about 30 minutes. For local information see ThisIsIngleton

Get Directions

By Train

Virgin Trains from London, the Midlands, North Wales and Scotland connect to Lancaster, from where buses go to Ingleton.

Northern Rail trains connect Leeds and Bradford with Settle and Bentham, both of which have buses to Ingleton.

Settle to Carlisle Railway trains call at Ribblehead. From there it is 4½ miles walk to the cave.

Trainline is a one-stop shop for train and coach travel.

By Car

Travelling north on M6 take exit 34 then A683 towards Kirkby Lonsdale then A687 to Ingleton.

Travelling south on M6 take exit 36 then A65 towards Kirkby Lonsdale and stay on A65 to Ingleton.

Travelling west from Leeds or Bradford take A65 via Ilkley, Skipton and Settle to Ingleton.

Travelling south on A1 take A684 Bedale exit and continue to Hawes then B6255 towards Ingleton.

By Car Hire and Taxi

Avis car hire is within walking distance of Lancaster train station. Skipton Self Drive is less than a mile from Skipton train station, and is a family business offering vehicle hire suitable for holiday touring.  Nationwide Hire is as it says.

By Bus

Some 80 and 81B buses connect Lancaster with Ingleton. View timetable

Bus 581 connects Ingleton with Kirkby Lonsdale, and with Settle where there is a train station. View timetable

By Bike

Off the Rails hires out cycles, and is conveniently situated in the yard of Settle train station. Cycle the direct A65 route to Ingleton, or meander along country lanes.
